"Mend it March" - Mending Jeans + Denim Date - Tuesday 25th March - 7pm-9pm "In a world of disposability, repairing our clothes is a revolutionary act." - Orsola De Castro, Loved Clothes Last. Have you ever wanted to learn how to learn how to mend your clothes, and give your wardrobe a second lease of life? Join maker and designer Laura Sherriffs of Fernweh in this hands-on workshop, we'll be exploring how to repair your jeans, troubleshooting common issues and how we can reinforce problem areas to make your favourite denim last longer. With just a needle and thread, you'll be learning how to mend a hole in a pocket, how to reinforce or repair the crotch of jeans invisibly, and how to use creative patches to cover holes in knees. These practical techniques will empower you to extend the life of your clothing and create a more sustainable wardrobe. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their sewing skills! We'll be creating samplers for these techniques so that you can take these skills away to repair your own clothes. Due to the length of the workshop we won't be repairing actual garments at the workshop, but feel free to ask any questions relating to specific mending queries. All materials provided. Techniques covered; Invisible Crotch Repair/Reinforcement Pocket Repair Using creative patches to mend knee holes About your Tutor Laura from Fernweh UK has been crafting waxed canvas bags and accessories under her slow fashion brand Fernweh since 2014. She has a BA Hons in Fashion Design and has 15 years experience in pattern cutting, garment construction and finishing, utilising industrial sewing machines and 10 years of bagmaking.
